BRIAN ENO & BEATIE WOLFE: LIMINAL
On October 10, 2025, Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe released their third collaborative album, Liminal, via Verve Records.
"Music is about making feelings happen. Some of those feelings are familiar, while others may not be - or may be complex mixtures of several different feelings. There are many beautiful words for such feelings in other languages and cultures - words that don't exist in English. By giving a feeling a name, we make that feeling more likely to be felt, more tangible. Art is able to trigger feelings, or feeling mixtures, that we've never quite felt before. In this way, a piece of Art can become the "mother" for a type of feeling, and a place you can go to find and re-experience that feeling. Some of the feelings we found ourselves working with were these..."
"Liminal stands at the point of convergence between Lateral and Luminal. If Lateral is a kind of landscape painting, a sonic place, Luminal is a dream-like awakening, a feeling space. Liminal, the newest addition, is a hybrid of the two, a strange new land with a human living and feeling its way through its mysterious spaces. Liminal is set in the borderlands between song and non-song (or 'nong' as we call it), where the listener is exploring an intimate and unfamiliar new sonic world, as yet unclaimed, and still ambiguous."

On October 15, Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe marked the arrival of their ambient album Liminal by beaming it into space using the Holmdel Horn Antenna, a Cold War-era structure that once captured the faint radiation left behind by the birth of the universe.
The broadcast took place at Crawford Hill in New Jersey with support from Nobel Prize-winning physicist Dr. Robert Wilson, who originally used the antenna in 1964 to detect the cosmic microwave background and provide key evidence for the Big Bang theory.
