TALKING HEADS: MORE SONGS ABOUT BUILDINGS AND FOOD (SUPER DELUXE EDITION)

Take me to the remaster! Transitional second, boxed

Sandwiched between the whipsmart debut and the successive epiphanies of Fear Of Music and Remain In Light, More Songs About Buildings And Food is the least heralded album of Talking Heads' epochal early run. It's largely comprised - as hurried second albums often are - of songs that didn't make the cut first time around; Warning Sign was one of the first things the band ever wrote together, back in Rhode Island. Still, it marks the beginning of fruitful relationships with both Brian Eno and Compass Point Studios, a splash of Caribbean irie infusing Frantz and Weymouth's crazy rhythms. They keep everything buoyant, even when the songs aren't so strong. Plus, of course, you get the delirious two-minute stampede of Thank You For Sending Me An Angel, as well as that pivotal Al Green cover.

EXTRAS: A more psychedelic take on Found A Job is the pick of the alternate versions, while an August 1978 live set from New York's Entermedia Theater is reliably invigorating, if not quite as vital as the CBGB stand unearthed for the Talking Heads: 77 box
