BRIAN ENO AND UNDERWORLD'S KARL HYDE RELEASE IOS APP "ENO•HYDE"

Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde released a collaborative album, Someday World, earlier this month, and they've now shared a new iOS app called Eno•Hyde in conjunction with it.

This is Eno's first foray into the app-making world, having already created the music-geared apps Bloom, Air, Trope, and Scape. Eno•Hyde's iTunes description gives a rather cryptic summary:

Soundtracked by the Eno/Hyde song Strip It Down and inspired by the writing of new album Someday World, the Eno•Hyde app takes the classic analogue medium of vinyl and fuses it with AR (augmented reality) technology, allowing fans to use their iOS device to watch and explore as new 'outsider architecture' metropolises spring into life around their record.

Essentially, with Eno•Hyde open, you point your iOS device's camera at a physical copy of the album (or this handy digital one), and the app creates miniature interactive architecture on top of your LP while album cut Strip It Down plays. The idea was conceived by a whiteboard-note the pair had written in the studio that read "Build cities on hills."

Someday World is out now via Warp Records.
