BRIAN ENO: SMALL CRAFT ON A MILK SEA
True to form-plying form, Eno's latest was created largely through randomised improvisation; his collaborators on solo album number twenty-six are a pair of young composers, Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams, and their work together makes for a far more percussive record than the ethereal song cycle that was 2005's Another Day On Earth. This is just as cohesive though, beginning and ending in familiar, ambient territory, while covering strange and pleasingly abrasive new ground, including the ferocious motorik of 2 Forms Of Anger and the deeply creepy Casio-keyboard jitters of Bone Jump.
