ENO/HYDE: HIGH LIFE
Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde had so much fun making their recent collaborative album (the excellent Someday World) that they immediately started work on another one. High Life is the result, a more experimental and avant-garde record than its predecessor, but no less meritorious. They combine Reichian repetition with mournful folk on the opener Return, while Afrobeat rhythms underpin the bracing funk of DBF. You sense there's more to come from this union, and on this evidence it would be most welcome.
