ENO/HYDE: SOMEDAY WORLD

The highly articulate duo of the musically protean Brian Eno and Underworld's Karl Hyde has crafted a selection of mellow pop songs wrapped in lusciously dreamy and immaculately produced arrangements. As the album progresses, the duo fall under the influence of fractured polyrhythms, Afrobeat and minimalist repetition. Experimental tendencies are reined in by a determined pop sensibility that provides form and structure, even though the mood is generally restrained and wistful. The dreamy soundscapes may not exactly be on trend but Eno and Hyde deliver a timeless sound that rewards with each listen.
